Rivers Professionals for Wike (RIVPROW) is an aggregation of professionals in Rivers State who subscribe to the vision of His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the Governor of Rivers State. It is also a platform created to mobilize support from other professionals for the Governor. It was created to enable professionals participate in the political process and to give opportunity to those who believe in and share the vision of the governor to have a place. The group was formed in acknowledgement and appreciation of the many giant strides toward development that the Governor has taken, especially in the areas of security, infrastructure, health, Education, Urban renewal, Tourism, Judiciary, Housing, etc. The Rivprow team believes that the N.E.W administration has performed remarkably well in the past 3 years and so should be encouraged, supported to seek a second term in office.

RIVPROW also celebrates the purposeful leadership, transparent governance, fiscal responsibility, and much more that the governor has brought to bear in Rivers state since he was elected governor.
The RIVPROW inaugural Summit with the theme “The New Rivers Vision – Galvanising professionals for good good governance. ” was held at Horlikins Event Center, Eastern bypass, Port Harcourt on 21st August, 2018.

Rivers state blasts Tinubu for comments about Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has lashed out at the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bola Tinubu, for saying he lured Governor Aminu Tambuwal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Premium Times reports that this was contained in a statement by the state commissioner for communication, Emma Okah,

Governor Wike has not discussed the political ambition of Governor Tambuwal with Senator Tinubu any day and so Senator Tinubu cannot rely on mere rumour to speak unfairly about the governor in the way he did.” “Tambuwal is a matured adult who has the capacity to take critical political decisions for himself without prompting from Gov Wike. “When as Speaker of House of Representatives, Governor Tambuwal defected from the ruling PDP to the APC, why did Senator Tinubu not say that Governor Wike had a hand in it at that time or is it because it favoured Senator Tinubu’s APC?”

The commissioner called on elders to “exercise restraint at times like this.” Meanwhile, the president of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Monday, August 20, replied the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying the latter was accommodating inadequacies in the party because of his presidential ambition for 2023. Saraki said this in response to a letter reportedly written by Tinubu giving reasons why the Senate president and others left the APC.

The Senate president noted that he had severally complained to Tinubu and a host of party leaders in the APC about the administration of Muhammadu Buhari as well as the need to carry critical stakeholders along. He said these complaints were never taken seriously adding that his actions as the Senate president had always been in the interest of the nation. The EFCC boss stressed that the agency had not and would not engage in a witch-hunt, adding that its activities were in line with international best practices.

‘‘In all that we do, we are guided first by the fear of God and patriotism to our fatherland and the rule of law.

‘‘I will continue to discharge my duties guided by fear of God, overriding interest of Nigeria and rule of law,’’ he said.

Mr Magu, who stated that the commission had recorded notable achievements, added that it became accessible to Nigerians and had brought the anti-corruption campaign closer to the people.

‘‘Like we all know, corruption is the number one problem that has militated against the development of Nigeria, especially the very poor at the grassroots.

‘‘The havoc that corrupt practices has wrought on the Nigerian economy is, no doubt, endless.

‘‘This is why fighting it (corruption) to a standstill is not only a must but the only lifesaver for our country.

‘‘We must all join hands to kill corruption. We must fight this menace. There is no better time to prop up the anti-corruption campaign than now,’’ he said.

Mr Magu said it was pertinent for all Nigerians to see themselves as stakeholders in the fight against corruption.

He called on journalists to see themselves as strategic partners in the fight against corruption and urged them to also expose corrupt practices around them.

Dolapo Dosunmu, the State Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), who commended Mr Magu for excellent performance, said the agency was making an impact in the country.
